As one element of the broader Confluence Project, the West Creek Preservation Committee restore 200 linear feet of West Creek immediately upstream of the Cuyahoga River. Project activities included stabilizing eroding streambanks, removing concrete debris, creating pools, riffles and vains to provide habitat. The project also enhanced the riparian habitat with bioengineering and native plantings. These actions reduced sediment and pollution loading and shaded the stream channel to further improve aquatic habitat.
Project was located in the lower reach of the West Creek watershed, a subwatershed of the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie, in Independence, OH
