Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and partners are restoring stream habitat at four priority sites along Walnut Creek, a tributary to Lake Erie. Restoration activities will include stabilizing streambanks, installing in-stream habitat structures, and planting riparian areas to restore a functional riparian buffer and improve aquatic habitat and natural stream flow functions. This work is contributing to the reduction of nutrient pollution, the control of erosion, and the decrease of sedimentation. These improvements will contribute to a thriving sport fishery and enhance water quality and ecological health.
