The Michigan Nature Association conducted a series of research projects that enhanced critical habitat along the Lake Huron shoreline for native lakeplain species including the rare prairie fringed orchid.  This effort also involved direct invasive species control as well as management techniques such as fire to enhance and restore the vegetative community on three protected areas that together encompass more than one mile of undeveloped shoreline and 65 acres of wetlands on Lake Huron. The responses to each of the management techniques were tracked and the resulting research was contributed to the native plan management in the region.
