The Forest Preserve District of Cook County is restoring lakeplain habitat located within the Millennium Reserve: Calumet Core area in Cook County, Illinois.  Restoration techniques include prescribed burning, herbicide application, and mechanical removal of invasive species.  This work is being conducted on some of the most biologically rich natural areas in the Chicago Region and it will contribute to habitat improvement for migratory birds, 24 state-listed plant species, and many other species of wildlife.
