Huron Pines Resource Conservation and Development Council and partners implemented several targeted restoration and enhancement projects to preserve the high water quality and habitat values of both the Pigeon and Sturgeon rivers.  The project involved:  1) replacement of three poorly performing road/stream crossings; and 2) in-stream placement of woody debris in selected stream reaches.  This work re-connected river 14 miles for fish passage, improved in-stream Blue Ribbon Trout habitat on 10,000 feet of riparian habitat, reduced sediment loading in the rivers, and engaged conservation stewards in watershed protection efforts.
