Project Location(s):

Salmon Trout River Watershed, MI

The Superior Watershed Partnership restored sections of the Salmon Trout River Watershed, home to the last remaining population of naturally reproducing coaster brook trout on the south shore of Lake Superior.  The project restored 1 mile of stream habitat for fish and aquatic organisms, reducing sediment input into the Salmon Trout River through replacement of 2 road, increasing the availability of habitat and cover for coaster brook trout, and by establishing protocol, benchmarks, and baseline data for long-term evaluation of coaster brook trout habitat.  The Superior Watershed Partnership also increased awareness and participation by corporate and private land owners as well as other stakeholders through targeted messages and volunteer opportunities.
