Staff of Riveredge Nature Center and many volunteers enhanced Riveredge Creek within Riveredge Nature Center, a 379- acre environmental learning center in southeastern Wisconsin. The project partners are mapping, monitoring and removing herbaceous and woody invasive species. Invasive species control techniques include herbicide and mechanical removal. This work is aiming to improve the condition of 90 acres of wetlands, 1.3 miles of riparian areas, and adjacent upland habitat within the Milwaukee Estuary Area of Concern and enhance habitat for the endangered swamp metalmark butterfly and many other wildlife species.
