Blue Heron Ministries and many conservation partners established a roving field crew that restored and enhanced 449 acres of habitat in portions of southern Michigan and northern Indiana. The field crew was trained in herbicide application and mechanical control of invasive species, prescribed burning, and collection and sowing of native seed. The crew implemented these techniques at properties owned by nine conservation partners within the project area. Through this work, the field crew restored and enhanced globally significant fens, bogs, and sedge meadows that provide habitat for many state and federally listed species.
