Potter County Conservation District will remediate an undersized culvert to restore aquatic connectivity and reconnect 10 miles of upstream habitat. The grantee will also stabilize 2.5 miles of a gravel road adjacent to the stream to reduce sedimentation by up to 600 tons per year. Finally, a rock cross vane will be constructed to create habitat structure for fish species, such as brook trout. Improving headwater tributaries to the Genesee River watershed is essential to restoring water quality and access for aquatic organism passage. This project will improve headwater access for aquatic organism passage into the coldest and cleanest sections of the watershed, while improving the water quality in this tributary and the sections downstream.
