The Huron Pines Resource Conservation & Development Area Council, Inc. is providing technical assistance to private landowners to help optimize wildlife conservation on private lands across the northern Lower Peninsula.  This technical assistance program is helping farmers, foresters and other private landowners increase participation in Farm Bill programs such as the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, and Conservation Reserve Program, among others.  Other partner conservation programs are also being used to complement and augment the effectiveness of those Farm Bill programs.  This technical assistance model has strong support from partners in Michigan and offers “one stop shopping” for private landowners interested in improving habitat on their lands.  This project is expected to provide assistance to approximately 300 landowners and help improve roughly 4,000 acres of habitat.
