The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Ducks Unlimited, restored approximately 70 acres of previously farmed wetland on the Little Menominee River. The project involved restoration of natural hydrology and native vegetation, as well as some contouring. Combined with protection of the property, this project aided in reducing non-point pollution, mitigating floods, and improving wildlife habitat in the Little Menominee River watershed. Riparian habitat was restored on over .75. Pre- and post-restoration monitoring of water quality, flows, vegetation, and wildlife helped evaluate the project outcomes.
