The Nature Conservancy, in conjunction with state and federal agencies and other non profits organizations, identified the specific attributes of migratory bird stopover sites in Southern Lake Michigan.  This project produced a comprehensive, spatially-explicit map of stopover sties for different bird groups (raptors, shorebirds, waterfowl, and landbirds).  These maps were produced in order to serve as the basis for implementing conservation strategies and protecting land deemed important to migratory birds.  The maps were used by The Nature Conservancy and other partners to implement strategies to address land protection and remediation of these sites.
