The Western Reserve Land Conservancy will permanently protect of 80.5 acres of riparian and upland forest habitat adjacent to the Hach-Otis Sanctuary and State Nature Preserve in northeastern Ohio. This area includes approximately 2,384 feet of riparian habitat along the Chagrin River, a Lake Erie tributary. The Chagrin River Watershed is the only known watershed in Ohio that retains a population of native brook trout. By protecting this property, the Western Reserve Land Conservancy will be preserving high-quality in-stream habitat for numerous native species including brook trout, lake sturgeon, and other rare aquatic and avian species that inhabit the Chagrin River and upland habitat.
