National Audubon Society is planting shrubs and trees to improve riparian habitat for migratory birds at Ronan Park and Miami Woods, located in Chicago and Morton Grove, Illinois, respectively. Restoration activities at Ronan Park also include the removal of honeysuckle, buckthorn, and other invasive species. This work is improving canopy, understory, shrub and ground layers in these locations and providing the structure and food required by birds and other wildlife. Located at the southern end of Lake Michigan, this project will benefit the many migratory birds that use this area as critical stopover habitat during migration.
