The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission produced a stream corridor restoration plan for Dead Dog Creek owned by the Village of Winthrop Harbor, IL.  The plan helped guide stewardship and restoration activities on the Village’s property and help reduce downstream impacts to the nature Preserve areas and Lake Michigan.  Invasive plant species will be controlled within the degraded and high quality wetland areas. A total of 1 mile of riparian habitat and 30 acres wetland and associated uplands were restored.  The Commission will also educate local landowners with a workshop, volunteer opportunities, and a watershed bus tour.
