River Raisin headwaters and the Shiawassee River headwaters in southeastern MI

Stewardship Network and partners controlled invasive species on habitat within the River Raisin and Shiawassee River headwaters on over 130 acres.  Control  focused on several invasive species, including swallow-wort, glossy buckthorn, reed canary grass, honeysuckle and autumn olive.  This work contributed the improvement of  habitat in the River Raisin Area of Concern and benefited many species of concern, including massasauga, Blanding’s turtle, least bittern, marsh wren and poweshiek skipper.
