The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) restored 128 acres of degraded coastal wetland habitat in the Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area, an area recognized as a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. The DNR and its partners controlled wood and herbaceous invasive plants by hand, mechanically and through controlled burning. The resorted areas provide critical habitat for several state and federally listed species including the Prairie White Fringed Orchid, Blanding’s Turtle, and the red-tailed leafhopper.
