Cedar Creek in northeastern Muskegon County and southwestern Newaygo County, MI

Muskegon River Watershed Assembly and partners improved coldwater trout stream habitat and riparian buffer along Cedar Creek.  The project involved:  1) installation of  woody structures to stabilize banks and provide cover; and 2) re-establishment of native tree canopy and understory on 1.5 miles and 11 acres of riparian areas on public and private land.  This work improved habitat within the Muskegon Lake Area of Concern and benefit brook trout and many other fish species in one of the few remaining trout streams in the area.
