The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission is aiming to restore 1,800 linear feet stretch of Bull Creek, a major stream channel in the Dead River watershed. The project area is within a ravine with rare woodland plant communities and wetland seeps. The project is controlling invasive species along riparian corridor and thereby reducing the invasive seed source for downstream lakeplain habitat at Illinois Beach State Park. It is also stabilizing stream banks to reduce erosion and increase dissolved oxygen. These actions are improving water quality and habitat for many birds, fish and other wildlife.
