Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and partners restored and enhanced stream habitat and wetland habitat on the Brillion Wildlife Area. The project restored the natural meander to the currently channelized stream on 5,000 feet of river. Exposed soils were planted with native vegetation and rocks and woody debris were placed in the stream to improve fish and wildlife habitat. In addition, the project conducted excavation to enhance four adjacent wetlands, totaling 4.5 acres. This work contributed to the restoration of natural stream and wetland hydrology and to the improvement of habitat for blue-wing teal and other waterfowl, northern pike and other fish, and many other wildlife species.
