Centerville Creek Restoration
Grant Recipient:  Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership

Grant Award:  $149,791

Lake Basin:  Michigan

Project Location:  Centerville Creek watershed in the Village of Cleveland, Manitowoc County, WI

Project Description:  Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership and partners will restore a reach of Centerville Creek, a tributary of Lake Michigan in Cleveland, Wisconsin. Eighteen acres and 2,500 feet of stream bank will be restored and 20,000 cubic yards of sediment will be removed. These actions will improve habitat and water quality and reduce the invasive species infestations that occurred after the Centerville Creek dam was removed in 1996. In addition to providing enhanced shoreline and riparian habitats for wildlife, the project will provide opportunities for community-driven stewardship of the creek and beach area by engaging local organizations with an interest in habitat monitoring, invasive species removal and other stewardship activities.
