Grant Award: $79,280.46
Lake Basin: Superior
Project Location: Bad River watershed in northern Wisconsin
Project Description: Bad River Watershed Association (BRWA) and partners will replace two poorly performing culverts to restore 1.5 miles of upstream fish passage and improve 1,000 feet of in-stream habitat in the Bad River watershed. This project expands upon the BRWA’s Culvert Program, which has restored 12 sites and re-connected 17.5 stream miles to date.Like previous efforts under the program, the new project will improve aquatic connectivity, improve spawning habitat for many fish species, help prevent bank erosion, and reduce sediment loading to streams.
